Understanding the Components

When purchasing a Hot Tub Diverter Kit, it’s important to understand the different components and how they work together. The kit typically includes a gray notched 3 3/4" spa diverter cap, handle knob, stem & o-rings. This is a NON Buttress style cap, meaning it does not have threads on the outside edge like some other caps.

Diverter Cap

The diverter cap is the top part of the valve and is where the handle or knob is attached. It mounts on top of the diverter valve and has a stem that sticks through two small o-rings, which help to create a watertight seal.

Handle Knob

The handle knob inserts on top of the stem square, allowing for easy turning when adjusting water flow. It is about 4" long end to end and 2" wide side to side at the widest part. The square hole in the handle is 7/16" wide.

Stem

The stem is a crucial component of the diverter valve, as it connects the cap and handle knob to the valve body. It fits into the valve body through two small o-rings and is 5 7/16" long. The widest part of the stem is 2 1/4" wide, and the square part on top that the handle fits onto is 7/16" wide.

O-Rings

O-Rings are small rubber rings that help to create a watertight seal when placed around the stem. These are essential for proper functioning of the diverter valve.
