Product Description
Taylor DPD Reagent #3 - .75oz Dropper Bottle

Taylor DPD Reagent #3 is a high-quality testing solution specifically designed for measuring combined chlorine levels in pool and spa water. This reagent plays a crucial role in ensuring optimal water balance, helping to maintain safe and crystal-clear water conditions. Easy to use and highly reliable, it works in conjunction with Taylor test kits to provide accurate and consistent results. Whether you’re a residential pool owner or a professional technician, Taylor DPD Reagent #3 is an essential tool for effective pool water maintenance and testing.
After performing a free chlorine test, five drops of DPD #3 are added to the sample, mixed, and the resulting color is compared to a color chart to determine the total chlorine concentration. This value, along with the free chlorine reading, is used to calculate the combined chlorine level.
Detailed Instructions:
- Start with a Free Chlorine Test: First, follow the instructions for your Taylor test kit to determine the free chlorine level in your pool or spa water.
- Prepare the Sample: Use the same water sample from the free chlorine test. Fill the comparator tube to the appropriate mark (usually 9ml or 25ml).
- Add DPD #3: Add five drops of Taylor DPD Reagent #3 (R-0003) to the sample.
- Mix Thoroughly: Cap the tube and mix well by inverting it several times.
- Compare and Record: Immediately compare the color of the solution to the color standards provided in your test kit. Record the reading as parts per million (ppm) of total chlorine (Cl2).
- Calculate Combined Chlorine: Subtract the free chlorine reading from the total chlorine reading to determine the combined chlorine level (total chlorine - free chlorine = combined chlorine).
- Dilution for High Readings: If the color is very dark (e.g., 5 ppm or higher), dilute the sample and repeat the test for more accurate results.
Important Notes:
- Light:
Conduct the color matching in natural daylight or with a daylight simulator. - Shelf Life:
Reagents have a limited shelf life, so store them properly (cool, dark place) and replace them as needed. - Accuracy:
Ensure accurate readings by following the instructions carefully and using fresh reagents.
