What Is a High Limit Band — and Why Does It Matter?
The high limit band (also called a high limit switch or high limit sensor) is a critical safety component built into every hot tub spa pack. Its job is simple but vital: it monitors water temperature at the heater and automatically shuts it down if temperatures reach unsafe levels.
On Gecko M-CLASS systems, the high limit band activates when:
- Water temperature at the heater reaches 119°F (48°C) — the heater shuts down immediately
- Water temperature in the spa reaches 112°F (44°C) — pumps and accessories also shut down until the water cools to 109°F (43°C)
When triggered, you'll see three flashing dots on the display and a small LED light up on the control board. The system must be manually reset once conditions return to normal.
A faulty or worn high limit band means your hot tub may shut down unexpectedly, refuse to heat, or fail to protect against dangerous overheating. Replacing it promptly protects both bathers and your equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the M-CLASS-MP High Limit Band used for?
The high limit band is a safety sensor on your Gecko M-CLASS spa pack that monitors water temperature at the heater. When temperatures reach dangerous levels (119°F / 48°C at the heater), it shuts the heater down automatically to protect bathers and equipment. A faulty band can cause your spa to shut down unexpectedly or fail to protect against overheating — replacing it restores proper safety function.
Is a recycled high limit band reliable?
Yes. While recycled parts may show minor cosmetic wear like light discoloration or small blemishes from prior use, these are purely cosmetic and do not affect performance. All of our recycled parts are sourced from decommissioned spas, not broken or failed units.
How do I know if this part fits my hot tub?
The M-CLASS-MP High Limit Band fits hot tubs equipped with the Gecko M-CLASS (MSPA-MP) spa pack. If you're unsure, check your spa pack for the model number. You can also email us at fixmytub@gmail.com with your hot tub's make, model, serial number, or photos of your existing equipment, and our team will confirm compatibility.
What if the part isn't in stock?

Are there new or alternative replacement options available?
Yes. If a recycled M-CLASS-MP High Limit Band isn't available or doesn't suit your needs, we can point you toward new or alternate compatible replacement parts. Reach out to our team and we'll help find the right solution for your spa.
How do I reset my high limit after replacing the band?
Once the new band is installed and water temperatures have returned to normal (below 109°F / 43°C), locate the red reset button on your spa pack and press it to restore normal operation. If you need guidance, call us at 1-855-248-0777.
Can I send in photos to confirm the part before I order?
Absolutely — and we encourage it. Email photos of your existing high limit band or spa pack along with your hot tub's make, model, and serial number to fixmytub@gmail.com. Our team will confirm whether this part is the right fit.
